Meditation is a practice that engages the individual on focusing on an object, thought or activity, to help clear the mind, enhance focus and find an inner sense of calm and serenity.
Over the years I have built up my own meditation practices, finding new ways to find that sense of calm in a sometimes chaotic world. I love turning to this one to make me feel a sense of 'refresh' in the morning.
Quick and Refreshing Nature Meditation:
Find a flower, plant, tree or look at the sky. View the object with full awareness, focusing on your breath deepening as you become more present with the moment. Continue to encourage your inhale to enter your belly, sensing as it expands and contracts. Let your exhales flow through your lips, making a soft sound.
Focus on the object of nature you have chosen. What colours does it have? What texture is it? Does it move? Is it strong or soft? Is it wet or dry? Is it dark or light? How tall or small is it? How does it feel, does it vibrate, does it have sound? What does it smell like? Is it changing or staying the same?
Continue to deepen your breaths. Now close your eyes. Imagine that same object/scene. Imagine how that scene has come to be. For instance, if it is a flower, visualise the months of rain and sunshine which have helped it grow. Think of its smell, its vibrancy of colour, how it came to exist.
Repeat in your mind 'We are all one, we are all present, we are all imperfect, we are all growing, processing and becoming. We are all beings.' before breathing the deepest inhalation and longest exhalation.
I hope you are feeling refreshed!
